Insulin Pump Fails- Are you Prepared?

When your diabetes equipment works as planned, diabetes management becomes easier. But when it fails, it's not just annoying. It's dangerous. Recently, Rhodes' pump gave out. 20 minutes of blaring siren noise and a call to the manufacturer, he confirmed, it had died. Customer service was great, and we had a replacement coming in 48 hours. But did we have lantus for the interim? Nope. Mistake made, lesson learned. Back-up insulin pens have been ordered. Stay prepared and proactive, folks!
