November is Diabetes Awareness Month. Did you know that according to the American Diabetes Association, 1.5 million Americans are diagnosed with diabetes every year?
Check out these important statistics about diabetes:
- Nearly 1 in 10 Americans have diabetes (Source: CDC)
- 1.25 million Americans are living with T1D, including about 200,000 youth (less than 20 years old) and more than 1 million adults (20 years old and older. Source: JDRF
- According to JDRF, 5 million people in the U.S. are expected to have Type 1 Diabetes by 2050, including nearly 600,000 youth.
- According to the CDC, 84.1 million American adults—approximately 1 in 3—have pre-diabetes
Be sure to share the warning signs and symptoms of diabetes with your friends and loved ones. According to JDRF. They can include:
- Frequent Urination
- Increased Thirst
- Dry Mouth
- Increased Appetite
- Unexplained Weight Loss
- Dry and Itchy Skin
- Drowsiness
